Kevin Vyse, Packaging Technologist and Circular Economy Lead, Marks and Spencer

Paper and cardboard packaging. Making sustainability central to business.

In the face of intense media scrutiny on plastics and packaging generally, Marks and Spencer’s lead innovation into sustainable packaging choices. Through design, waste minimisation and recycling Kevin explains how sustainable packaging is a fundamental part of their Plan A strategy, and how this is an opportunity for paper and cardboard packaging.

Kevin’s career has spanned three decades in packaging design and development. He has worked for many of the best-known brands in the UK and Europe as well as for manufacturers and retailers. There are few people in the packaging business who share his depth of knowledge and experience and he now makes good use of that working at Marks and Spencer where he is Senior Packaging Technologist and Circular Economy Lead.

He is a member of the governments Advisory Committee on Packaging (ACP) and on the board of the On Pack Recycling Label (OPRL) company. Packaging is without doubt a major passion but, as a qualified yachtsman, so is messing about in boats whenever he can.
